Apprenticeship with a future – why GTS Countmaster invests in young talent

Finding qualified skilled workers has become one of the biggest challenges for many companies, particularly in technical professions. The shortage of skilled workers is also having a significant impact on the mechanical engineering and automation industry.. This makes it all the more important to inspire young people to pursue technical careers and offer them long-term career prospects.

With this in mind, GTS Countmaster participated once again in the Bildungsmesse Heilbronn, one of the region's leading career and education fairs. Together with our apprentices, we gave students and young visitors an insight into our company, our apprenticeship programmes and everyday working life at GTS. For us, these personal conversations are especially valuable, as a candidate's suitability is not defined solely by school grades but by their motivation, personality and shared values.

As a family-owned medium-sized company, we believe that a successful apprenticeship is about much more than simply acquiring technical knowledge. From the very beginning, our apprentices take on real responsibilities, contribute to ongoing projects and have the opportunity to share their own ideas. At the same time, they receive continuous support from experienced colleagues, enabling them to develop both professionally and personally.

A key element of our training philosophy is that we recruit apprentices according to our long-term business needs. We do not offer apprenticeships simply to fill training positions; we invest in young people because we want to develop the skilled professionals who will shape the future of our company. Our goal has always been clear: we train to retain.

This approach has proven successful over many years. Every apprentice who has completed their training with GTS Countmaster during the past 15 years has been offered permanent employment, and the majority of them are still part of our team today. We are particularly proud of this achievement, as long-term collaboration is built on mutual trust, shared values and opportunities for continuous development.

For us, the Bildungsmesse Heilbronn was therefore much more than a traditional careers fair. It provided the opportunity to meet motivated young people, answer their questions and find out whether our values and expectations align. We firmly believe that a successful apprenticeship does not begin with perfect grades but with curiosity, motivation and the willingness to shape the future together.
